Addiction/Opioid Crisis Resources

Barnstable County Behavioral Health Links – Single stop collection of mental health and addiction services available in Barnstable County.

My Choice Matters – Barnstable County Regional Substance Abuse Council (RSAC)’s new media campaign aiming to promote healthy behaviors on Cape Cod. You can view my blog post on My Choice Matters here.

Massachusetts Behavioral Health Access – An online treatment bed availability hub operated by the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP). To use, select service type (ESP, ATS, CSS, TSS, Level IV Detox, Methadone Treatment, or SOAP-IOP-PHP) and input area code.

BSAS Helpline (Massachusetts Substance Abuse Information and Education Helpline) – A resource providing free and anonymous information and referral for alcohol and other drug abuse problems and related concerns. Operated by the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS). BSAS is always working to update and improve this service, so providing honest and constructive feedback whenever possible is of utmost importance.

Buprenorphine Treatment Physician Locator – Operated by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Locator is a tool to search for physicians with the Federal waivers to prescribe buprenorphine to patients. Each physician can prescribe this form of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) to up to 275 patients. The Locator is updated daily, and only includes physicians who have opted into being featured in this service. To determine whether a physician is accepting new patients, please inquire with each individual office. To search for physicians county-wide, users must input “Barnstable County,” not just “Barnstable,” into the county search box.

Massachusetts Specialty Courts – Specialized problem-solving court sessions that provide court-supervised probation and mandated treatment focused on treating the mental health or substance abuse issues underlying criminal behavior. Such courts include Adult Drug Courts and Juvenile Drug Courts.

UMass’ Massachusetts Center of Excellence for Specialty Courts – Seeks to standardize the establishment and operation of specialty courts throughout the state, while taking into account that some practices may need to be adapted to fit local circumstances.
